GCWC Spring Whippet Race Meets April 20 & 21 2019.

The GCWC has new dates for our spring race meets!

The Del Wasso Memorial meet will be held Saturday April 20, 2019.
The Dot Gammie Memorial meet will be held Sunday April 21, 2019.

The Greater Chicago Whippet Club will holding their spring race meets
on APRIL 20 & 21, 2019. There will be one WRA each day.
We will also be offering Division II awards and Dash dog races.

There will be no LGRA meets at our spring meets this year

There will be NO POT LUCK LUNCH either day.  We will race straight through and lunch will be eaten “on the go.”



*MEET LOCATION!* River Road Park, 1895 River Road, Kankakee, IL 60901.

Note: The park only allows parking in the parking lot. Dogs may be set
up under the trees but driving there is not permitted.

**River Road Park Directions**
Take I 57 to South Schuyler Ave, US Rts. 45 & 52, and Exit North. Go
North about 1 mile to river Rd.(Also known as County Road 40) and turn
to the Right, East. Go about 1 mile to S 1500 E Rd. and turn Left,
North. Go about 1/2 mile and make the first left turn. Go to the
parking lot on the left just as the road ends.

Whippet measuring and inspection will begin at 8:30 A.M. with races
beginning immediately following the draw of the races.

Bitches in season and lame sighthounds are ineligible to race in WRA meets.

Pre-Entry fee is $10.00 per dog per day with a $30 limit per kennel
for pre-entries each day. (A kennel is defined as dogs brought and
handled by one family and owned, or co-owned, by the members of that
family. Kennel entries need not be of the same breed.) Entries which are e-mailed
then paid on the day of the meet are pre-entries. Post entries will be
$18 per dog with a $54 kennel limit each day. Any entry not received
by 11:59 p.m.
Wednesday, Sept 2 will be considered a post entry with any additional
amount for late entries collected at the day of the meet.

Registration with the WRA:
All entrants must be registered with WRA. If your dog is not
registered before the meet, bring a photocopy of your dogs
registration papers and $2 per new dog to the race meet (this is in
addition to the entry fee for each dog).
Pre-registration may be sent directly to WRA so that it
arrives at least two weeks before the date of the race meet you desire
to enter.

The person entering a hound for racing must be the actual owner, or
agent of the owner, or in possession of papers transferring said
ownership to the person entering the hound.

All racers will run with both Muzzles and Numbered Racing Blankets.

Whippets will run 4 heats of races with up to 6 whippets in each race.
All whippet races will be from a starting box.

A Porta-Potty will be provided. Water to cool the dogs will be
provided. Water is available at the site. There is no electricity at
the site and NO SHADE in the parking area, so bring SHADE, water,
chairs and whatever else you will need for a day out.

There will be a   NO POT LUCK LUNCH either day.  We will race straight through and lunch will be eaten “on the go.”

    • That will depend on the ground. If it’s firm RV’s and cars can park next to the track. If soggy and wet then the RV’s will have to stay in the parking lot. We can’t leave wheel ruts in the ground if we want to keep racing there. Cost’s them a lot to fix them.
